Daily Record and Sunday Mail have Murray Foote and Jim Wilson named as editors following Rennie promotion

Murray Foote has been appointed editor of Trinity Mirror title the Daily Record and Jim Wilson has been named editor of sister paper the Sunday Mail.

Appointments: The titles have new editors

The pair will report directly to Allan Rennie, managing director and editor in chief of Trinity Mirror’s Scottish operation, Media Scotland. The news comes just a week after Trinity Mirror announced Rennie would take over the position of MD for Media Scotland after the departure of Denise West.

Rennie said: “Murray and Jim are two of Scotland’s most experienced and talented journalists and I am delighted to have them at the helm in a historic year, where our nation hosts the Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup, World War I commemoration and the independence referendum.

“As well as maintaining our position as Scotland’s best print brands they will be responsible for driving and accelerating our digital audience growth.”

Foote joined the Daily Record in 1991 and became deputy editor in 2000. In 2012, he was promoted to group editor of Media Scotland. Wilson has been executive editor of the Sunday Mail since 2012 after joining the paper in 2000.
