David Emin has resigned from his role as managing director of Trinity Mirror’s advertising sales unit, the National Sales Agency (Nasa), with immediate effect.

Resignation: David Emin is leaving his position

Emin has been head of the unit since it launched in March 2013 and is leaving the position to “explore new opportunities”.

Advertising director Andy Whelan will assume the role of acting managing director until a replacement for Emin is chosen.

Mark Hollinshead, Trinity Mirror’s chief operating officer, said: “I would like to thank David for his tremendous contribution to the business over the years, and especially the energy he brought to launching Nasa. I wish David well for the future.

“However, we now have an opportunity to put in place a digitally focused leader who, alongside the current senior Nasa team, will aggressively drive our advertising growth plans across all our platforms.

“Our strategy is to become one of the UK’s leading multi-platform publishers and this position is integral to those ambitions.”

Trinity Mirror launched the unified advertising sales service to combine national, regional and digital sales teams for the first time.
