BMW has unveiled a self-driving car at CES, which can brake, steer and accelerate without any intervention from the driver.

The modified M235i Coupe, 2-Series Coupe and 6-Series Gran Coupe use 360-degree radar, ultrasonic sensors and cameras to ‘sense’ and adapt to their surroundings, and are able to drift around bends and slalom between cones.

A video of the car in action was unveiled on YouTube, following a test on the Nurburgring race track.

According to BMW, the ActiveAssist feature in the car can bring a vehicle "back into line in demanding driving situations without any input from the driver".

According to the Telegraph, researchers are also looking into an emergency stop assistant function, which would steer the vehicle to the side of the road and automatically activate an emergency call in the driver is in any way incapacitated.
