Papa John’s Pizza is offering fans the chance to sign for their chosen club as part of a competition geared towards taking its Football League sponsorship to the next level.

The promotion, in partnership with SkyBet, aims to tap into the transfer window frenzy as well as raise awareness of the brand through its sponsorship platform.

“Sign For Your Club gives fans a unique chance to become an official squad member of the professional football club that they support. For most supporters, young and old, this remains just a dream – this February for one fan it will become a reality,” explained Andrew Gallagher, marketing director for Papa John’s.

Legendary Sky presenters Jim White and Johnny Phillips have helped launch the competition creating an online video which gives fans the chance to see what it would look like if they were their team’s top target.

Geoff Howe Marketing Communication is handling digital for the campaign, with Haslimann Taylor taking responsibility for PR, Fox Kalomaski Crossing, Net Media Planet, and Sportquake, are taking care of the campaigns creative, digital advertising and partnerships respectively.

Gallagher added: “What makes this campaign stand out from the crowd, aside from the money can’t buy prize, is the SkyBet video which can be tailored for each fan and shared. We had more than 2000 video shares on launch day and we expect the campaign to build steadily as the advertising, social, and PR starts to build traction within the football community.”

A dedicated microsite has been set up for entry where fans must register their interest for a chance to join their football heroes.
