The Guardian will this week launch a monthly ‘Do Something’ lifestyle supplement for the Saturday edition of the title.

Supplement: The launch cover of 'Do Something'

The launch has been timed to coincide with the beginning of 2014 to encourage readers to “make the best possible start” to an active 2014, and will offer expert guidance and advice for readers, special offers and collate the lifestyle experiences of readers and Guardian writers.

In addition to the Saturday supplement, Guardian Sport will now have its own dedicated supplement each day from Monday to Saturday.

David Pemsel, deputy chief executive of Guardian News and Media, said: “We are starting 2014 with a bang, and proud to add the new monthly supplement to our already excellent weekend offering.

“We continue to listen to our readers and invest in our print titles, bringing our first-rate content to them in every-more engaging and creative platforms.

“Our print sales remain strong which, together with our digital-first strategy, puts us in a unique position to offer brands even more exciting and innovative ways to engage with our audiences.”

The Guardian announced a 20p rise in the cover prices of its daily and Saturday editions earlier this week.

In a separate development, the title has launched an investigation into claims that the Guardian website has been blocked in China.
