Global Radio has revealed the Blur drummer Dave Rowntree will be joining the team at Xfm to host his own show, launching tomorrow night (Thursday 9 January).

Broadcasting each Thursday between 9 -10pm across the UK, the hour-long show will see Rowntree share stories from his music career as well as delving into his own personal record collection.

Of the appointment, Rowntree commented: “I'm incredibly excited at the prospect of having my own show on Xfm. The station is known for its quality music and comedy, and for gambling its future on untried, untrusted and usually unwashed presenters. I'm genuinely humbled to be part of that tradition.”

Xfm managing editor, Chris Baughen, added: “Dave has pretty much seen, done and won everything when it comes to music. In addition to this, he’s a natural born presenter who I’m sure will become a firm favourite with the Xfm audience by the end of his first link.”

Having spent over two decades as Blur’s drummer, Xfm hopes that listeners to the show will gain insights into Rowntrees extensive musical knowledge and experience over the coming weeks.
