Karmarama has appointed Jon Williams, co-founder of global creative agency Naked, as executive chairman, replacing Nicola Mendelshon.

Wilkins, who will take up his new role at the end of the month, will be part of the senior management team and an equity partner, with responsibilities spanning a range of clients and projects.

The news follows the departure of former executive chair Nicola Mendelsohn, who left the agency last year to become vice president, EMEA of Facebook.

Wilkins worked on a range of local and global clients including Coca-Cola and Unilever during his 13 years at Naked, which expanded its international presence under his leadership, with offices in New York, Melbourne, Sao Paolo, Paris, Singapore, Dubai and Tokyo.

Naked was sold to Photon for $60m (£37m) in 2008. His move to Karmarama is his first role since leaving Naked at the end of 2013.

Karmarama CEO Ben Bilboul said: "Jon is a huge talent and we couldn’t be more excited to work with him. Having previously built a hugely progressive business, growing it into a global success, he will be an amazing addition to our management team.”

Last year the Karma Communications Group acquired social media agency Grape Digital, bringing the headcount in the group to over 250 people.

It also picked up ten new clients in 2013, including Virgin Active, Clydesdale & Yorkshire Banks, Sun Pat, Cobra and Grolsch.
