'Go Away Cameron' Chrome extension created to help browsers beat Prime Minister's UK porn filters

A Google Chrome extension entitled ‘Go Away Cameron’ has been created to allow UK internet browsers to bypass recently introduced porn filters.

The extension claims to bypass censorship of porn, that will automate a private and smart proxy service to allow the user to bypass ‘around censorship’ to regain access to their ‘favourite blocked sites in the UK’.

Last month, Prime Minister David Cameron lauded an agreement with Google, Microsoft and a number of internet service providers that would block access to porn sites in the UK in order to protect children from seeing graphic images.

On the extension’s download site, the creator, who has claimed to be a recent computer science graduate, explained their reason for having created the extension, giving three reasons: “One, It was a holiday project as I was learning Twitter bootstrap. Two, I enjoy my internet freedom, and urge all of you to never give that up, let alone to any government agencies. Three, I did have some blind hopes for it going viral.”

Since the block was imposed, it has been discovered that a number of legitimate websites including some teaching sex and sexual health education.

Meanwhile, according to The Independent, O2 has altered its porn filter after it prevented customers from accessing charity websites including ChildLine, the NSPCC and the Samaritans.
