Vice has promoted Matt O’Mara to the role of UK managing director and appointed a new UK marketing chief as it prepares to push into TV partnerships in the UK and eyes opportunities in wearable tech.

O’Mara, previously commercial director, replaces Laura Franses who held the role for less than four months. The Drum understands she left of her own volition.

The youth media brand has appointed Jo Pocock as its new marketing director, a role which hasn’t been filled for several years. She was previously head of marketing of creative production agency Saddington Baynes, where she worked with clients including Honda, Wrigley's, Strongbow, Infiniti, Dyson, Intel and P&G.

Her appointment partly stems from the departure of AdVice Europe’s general manager Dan’l Hewitt, who leaves the brand on Monday (23 December). Hewitt’s role spanned marketing activation and his leaving has triggered the need for a marketing director role.

Vice has also appointed a new client sales director, James Oxley, who will be responsible for driving opportunities around the news vertical, working closely Vice's news editor Kevin Sutcliffe. Oxley's remit will also see him focus on IP cross-platform sells across all Vice verticals which include its music brands Noisey and will take up his new role on 8 January.

A full interview with O'Mara will be published on The Drum in the near future.
