Lisa Campbell appointed as festival director for the Edinburgh International Television Festival

The Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival has announced Lisa Campbell as the new Edinburgh Festival director with her ten years’ experience as editor of Broadcast a major hook.

On her appointment as the Edinburgh Festival director, Lisa Campbell, said: “I'm looking forward to working with the festival to deliver a must-attend event.

“The TV Festival is an incredible event and one that I've always wanted to be more involved in. I'm really looking forward to making this year’s festival as confident, insightful and courageous as possible.”

Current Executive Chair Elaine Bedell, said: “It’s fantastic news for the festival that Lisa has been appointed. She’s got a great reputation within the industry and has proved in her six years as editor of Broadcast that she’s unafraid to tackle difficult subjects. She’s full of ideas about the festival’s future, and we can’t wait to start working with her.”

Former editorial director of ITN Productions, Chris Shaw, was additionally appointed as executive chair of the festival, he said he is “thrilled and really looking forward taking over as executive chairman of the festival at a time when the British TV industry has such an outstanding reputation”.

Campbell also oversaw the Broadcast Awards and Digital Awards, events, supplements and specials including the flagship Indie Survey, and ran the Expert Women campaign.
