Samsung has kicked off its new fantasy inspired and global marketing Galaxy 11 campaign, but unveiling the 13-strong squad of players it has recruited.

Released today, 18 December, a new video ‘Galaxy 11: The Beginning,’ shows the likes of Lionel Messi, Victor Moses, Wayne Rooney, and Cristiano Ronaldo being drafted to join a squad that will take on a fleet of football-playing aliens that have invaded Earth.

Throughout the four minute video fans are given brief glimpses of Samsung Galaxy devices being used by players, such as the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear.

“We’ve assembled a ‘dream team’ of top-class players from around the world to join the Galaxy 11 campaign and help bring this story to life across various channels and Galaxy devices,” said Andy Griffiths, president at Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland. “As the story continues to unfold, fans participation will become even more vital to our campaign. We are looking forward to bringing our passionate fans closer to the Galaxy 11 team and story through a series of upcoming socially-driven and interactive initiatives.”

With a combined social media following of nearly 200 million fans, each member of the Galaxy 11 team is providing fans with updates and exclusive content throughout the campaign.

It has also been promoted across six different platfroms, including the campaign microsite, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, using the hashtag #Galaxy11.

The next instalment will see the team come together and begin training for the match against the intergalactic squad.

Since its release, the film has pulled in over 160,000 views.
