Australian PM ditches Holden for BMW as official car
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott is to ditch his flagship fleet of high-security Holden limousines in favour of a fleet of bomb and gas proof BMWs.
Out with the Holden, in with the BMW
The government contract, worth $4 billion has been awarded to BMW after Holden reportedly did not bid to retain the contract.
The issue comes ata sensitive for the brand as news continues to unfold over the whether Holden will continue to manufacture in Australia.
Car brands Audi and Mercedes and British Aerospace also bid for the tender.
