YouTube has revealed that Evian’s ‘baby & me’ is the UK’s favourite ad of 2013.
The 2013 YouTube Ads Leaderboard celebrates the most watched adverts, and this year saw a marked increase in the number of brands drawing on popular memes among the YouTube community.
Topping the leaderboard was Evian with its ‘baby & me’ film which generated 20 million views in two days and 100 million after 10 weeks globally. Created by BETC Paris, it sparked 334 viewer-created versions and more than 6.9 million viewers have shared the video on social networks.
Despite only being release last month, in second place came John Lewis’ Christmas advert, ‘The Bear & The Hare’, which has seen more than double the number of views compared to their snowman advert last year and has inspired countless covers.
Three's 'Dancing Pony' ad, created by Wieden + Kennedy, came third having pulled in over seven million views on its official channel to date.
Meanwhile, the Dove Real Beauty Sketches film from this year reflected a trend among brands to break away from the 30 second commercial. Following its release, the Real Beauty Sketches ad became the most viral ad of all time receiving more than 114 million total views in its first month and generated a trove of response videos, parodies and media discussion on female self esteem.
