Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) has announced the promotion of Ian Withington from managing director of H+K’s food and drink team to group managing director.

Withington will be taking responsibility for the retail and leisure team as part of his new responsibilities, as predecessor Flic Howard-Allen leaves to become head of external affairs at Associated British Foods from January.

He said of the promotion: “I have thoroughly enjoyed leading the TUI account for the last year and this is a natural extension for me. I am looking forward to shaping the retail and leisure team over the coming months and years.”

Richard Millar, president and CEO of H+K Strategies UK and Europe, said of the appointment: “Ian is a brilliant leader of clients and teams. His creativity and track record in developing campaigns that win hearts and minds will be valuable to our stable of clients in the retail and leisure sector.

“I would also like to thank Flic for her commitment and contribution to our business and wish her well in her prestigious new role at ABF.”

Withington will begin his new responsibilities immediately.
