Newly elected senator Clive Palmer, the former shipping and business magnate, has called on Australians to boycott ‘The Australian’ newspaper. He has proposed the boycott on the basis that the paper “just publishes malicious rubbish & imposes views of foreigner @rupertmurdoch on Australia.”He made the call to his 30,751 followers via Twitter.Palmer has pledged that he has forsaken his external business interests since election to the Senate. The proposed boycott is the latest step in a longstanding feud between the two men. In August, prior to his election, Palmer recruited former News International journalists to publish on the ‘News on News’ website.Last month he said that said that former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was a “victim of a nasty & self-serving propaganda campaign” from Rupert Murdoch’s press.
