Christian Toksvig, currently vice president for business development, has revealed he will leave Getty Images come January to pursue entrepreneurial digital media projects.

β€œI've accomplished the main objectives that I was brought in to do, particularly around our presence in emerging markets and creating new digital business models and partnerships,” explained Toksvig. β€œOn that background it makes sense to move on and work in a more entrepreneurial context.”

Toksvig was instrumental in negotiating the five-year partnership between BBC Worldwide and Getty Images, under which Getty took on the worldwide sales of BBC video content and assumed the staff and operations of BBC Motion Gallery.

During his near three year stint with the company he also helped set up its presence in Middle East, Turkey, Brazil, India and China, through acquisitions of local agencies.

It is currently unknown who will replace Toksvig.
