CNBC has announced a string of senior appointments across different functions including advertising sales, business development and distribution, as it seeks to strengthen its international footprint.

Junji Sumitani has been promoted to the role of vice president of international business development. Having led the CNBC sales organisation in Asia Pacific for the past three years, Sumitani will now identify and develop new business opportunities across CNBC Asia Pacific and EMEA. As vice president of international business development Sumitani will be based in Singapore and will report to president and managing director of CNBC International, KC Sullivan.

Jacqueline Lam will take on the role of vice president of international distribution managing all of CNBC’s existing distribution and affiliate relationships in addition to growing the network’s reach by securing new opportunities with cable, satellite and broadband partners. Like Sumitani Lam will be based in Singapore and report to Sullivan.

Of the promotions, Sullivan said: “These changes align all parts of our business to work across our international network. An international structure enables us to operate more effectively for the benefit of our viewers, partners and commercial clients and positions us well for long-term growth.”

CNBC has also announced two promotions within its international sales team with Kerry Tarrant becoming vice president, sales, Asia Pacific and Justin Davison promoted to vice president, sales, UK and Western Europe.

Tarrant will lead commercial activities across Asia Pacific, including sales, research, creative solutions and ad operations. Based in Singapore Tarrant will report to Jason Webby, senior vice president, sales, CNBC International. Davison has been tasked with leading sales activities across Western Europe; he previously led CNBC’s sales in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany and Scandinavia. He too will report to Webby but will be based in London.

Webby commented that these promotions had put “the right structure in place to create and deliver multi-platform solutions for clients that leverage the power of CNBC across all of its assets.”

The appointments are effective immediately.
