Johnston Press appoints Kris Yule to head Scotsman website

Johnston Press has announced the appointment of Kris Yule as general manager of the Scotsman.com, a newly created position intended to strengthen its digital output.

Yule will begin work for the publisher by the end of the month and will report directly to Stuart Birkett, MD for Johnston Press Scotland.

Hailing from Australia Yule cut his teeth as a sales executive for The Scotsman back in 1998 before his departure in 2006 to launch a new sports drink brand. Latterly he as served as digita; sales director for STV.

Speaking about the new role Yule said: “Scotsman.com is an iconic Scottish media brand and is well positioned to maximise the opportunity that the shift to digital formats has created. I am delighted to be part of what I know will be a successful period for JP in Scotland.”

Birkett commented: “Johnston Press has continued to invest in building a strong digital business and Kris brings a wealth of commercial and entrepreneurial experience to this important position.

“In this new role, Kris will build upon the great success of the recently re-launched Scotsman website and help develop strategies and sales to fuel our ambitious digital growth plans across Scotland, whilst at the same time exceeding the expectations of our partner advertisers. I am looking forward to working closely with him.”
