Air New Zealand has unveiled a TV ad featuring The Hobbit actor Dean O’Gorman, who plays the dwarf Fíli, as part of its global marketing campaign ahead of the premier of part two of the trilogy.

In its role as ‘Official Airline of Middle-earth’, the new ad, ‘Just Another Day in Middle-earth’, got Air New Zealand’s own flight attendants, pilots, aircraft engineers and a range of staff from other areas involved, as well as the voice of Sylvester McCoy, the Hobbit Trilogy’s Radagast the Brown.

The ad, created by True with media planning by OMD, aims to inspire people to travel using the message ‘Middle-earth is closer than you think’. After watching it, viewers will have the chance to enter a competition to win trips to the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in Los Angeles.

Other activity from Air New Zealand will include a branded Boeing 777-300 aircraft which will leave Auckland in time to reach LA for the movie premiere on 2 December.
