The Daily Record and STV have struck a deal which will see the Record website offer the STV Player service to readers on desktop, mobile and tablet.

Deal: The Daily Record website will host STV Player content

A statement from Trinity Mirror said the “historic partnership” was the result of “strong collaborative development work” between the Record and STV digital teams.

A campaign across the Daily Record, Sunday Mail and another 20 Media Scotland titles will promote the new partnership.

Allan Rennie, editor-in-chief of Media Scotland, said: “This is an innovative digital partnership that brings together the best of the Daily Record with the best of STV.

“We are two iconic Scottish companies with a lot in common and this partnership will reinforce our positions as that nation’s leading publisher and broadcaster.”

There will be no charge for the service on the Daily Record website, which does not sit behind a paywall.
