Lastminute.com has launched a search for a ‘Spontaneity Champion’ to show the public how to live, ditch the guidebook and see where their free time could truly take them.

The chosen ‘Spontaneity Champion’ will receive up to £50,000 worth of lastminute.com travel and treats to road-test, with the winner able to keep their day job and travel at the weekend.

A number of the fully paid, spontaneous ‘missions’ will be picked by lastminute.com’s social audience and could include travelling long-haul for a weekend or playing hotel roulette in central London.

Matthew Crummack, CEO of lastminute.com, said: “Customers today have a wealth of information and resource at their fingertips which can be both a blessing and a curse in the way we enjoy travel. It has never been easier to access amazing destinations at the very last minute, but it has also never been more tempting to plan our trips in the most minute details, with a thousand voices sharing their opinions and photos online.

"The Spontaneity Champion will inspire and remind us that often the best travel experiences are the least planned. Those trips we have when we relinquish control as the architect of our perfect trip and take on an attitude of discovery and embrace the unknown."

The chosen champion will have the opportunity to curate and share their adventures with the public, essentially becoming the online face of the travel and leisure brand.
