Waitrose has unveiled its first ad for Christmas 2013, created by BBH alongside Waitrose's in-house team, which looks to promote its Community Matters scheme.

The advert, which premiered on ITV during The X Factor on Saturday 2 November, will air throughout the Christmas season and shows a young boy in Waitrose with his mother, choosing a charity to support with a green Community Matters token.

Rupert Thomas, marketing director for Waitrose, said: “I hope this ad will remind people that putting their green token in the Community Matters box can help their community in simple, heartfelt ways that can make a real difference.”

The ad shows a roast gammon lunch served to 40 elderly members of the St. John's Church, Hythe, with the lunch donated by the local branch.

‘The Story of Giving Back’ advert is the first of a series of seasonal TV adverts from Waitrose and will air throughout the Christmas season.
