Newsnight anchor Kirsty Wark signs off with Thriller dance live on air
The famously unflappable Newsnight anchor Kirsty Wark surprised the programme’s hardcore news audience by launching into an unannounced – but well choreographed – rendition of Michael Jackson’s famous Thriller dance at the close of Thursday evening’s Hallowe’en show.Wark, who shot to prominence in the 1980s with her one to one interview with Margaret Thatcher, played the gag absolutely straight. She hinted via Twitter that something special was planned for the programme, but viewers were taken by surprise at the sudden commencement of the mass Thriller dance.
Planning something special for Halloween? @BBCNewsnight we are... at the end.
