The 30-year-old has been given temporary asylum in Russia following leaks he passed to the Guardian newspaper revealing the extent of spying and surveillance activities carried out by the NSA in the United States.
According to Russian state-run news agency RIA, the lawyer helping Snowden, Anatoly Kucherena, said: “Edward will provide support for a large Russian site.”
Kucherena declined to name the site “for security reasons”.
The US has attempted to have Snowden extradited on espionage charges but Russian President Vladimir Putin has resisted the efforts.
