Context, and not just content, is key, digital marketing agency Distilled explains in its latest report.

Brandopolis looks to provide insight into content strategy used by brands such as CocaCola, Goldman Sachs and Honda.

Areas covered include early adoption, awareness of how brand ecosystems work and the importance of making branding subtle.

Lydia Laurenson, the author of the report, said: “Digital marketers are drowning in a sea of content, including content about content! My goal when writing Brandopolis was to offer real insight into how big brands are playing the content game.

“While there is an astounding array of ‘how to’ information available out there, I hope that Brandopolis will become a one stop shop for marketers looking for the how and why big brands do what they do.”

In terms of ecosystem development, Brandopolis suggests creating opportunities for innovators to approach the brand and treating outside content innovators ‘nicely’.

Early adoption, the report states, helps give employees time, incentive, and backing to play with new platforms, and can help brands gain a reputation for content and social innovation, which can mean that they are offered new opportunities later.
