Paul Berney has announced he is to step down as MD EMEA and CMO of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) to return to his entrepreneurial roots, creating a mobile marketing consultancy group to focus on the education of marketers and agencies.

Berney has been with the MMA for more than five years and was the association’s first employee out with the US.

In addition to expanding the presence of the MMA in new markets including the Middle East and Africa, Berney has also played a significant role in the development of MMA’s Forum series.

The MMA has confirmed that Berney will continue to drive the development of this year’s MMA EMEA Forum, taking place in in November, working with the global leadership team and the yet to be announced new EMEA managing director, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal impact to MMA members.

Berney’s new mobile marketing consultancy and education business is set to launch on 30 October.
