Glasgow 2014 turns to Icon to provide look, wayfinding and signage for Commonwealth Games

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Orgainsers have announced that branding implementation company Icon will provide the look, wayfinding and signage services for next summers events.

The company, which will now become a sponsor of the Games, will be tasked with dressing all of the participating venues across Glasgow and wider Scotland, featuring a consistent design.

The Icon team will also be based within the 2014 Games offices in Glasgow's Merchant City, while it aims to build a local knowledge, working with Scottish manufacturers and crews.

John Francis, CEO of ICON, described the 2014 Commonwealth Games as “a large and complicated project,” but added; “We are confident of delivering a spectacular Look for the Glasgow 2014 venues, for Glasgow and for Scotland,”

Icon has a history of involvement with large-scale sporting occasions, having also been involved in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Euro 2012, ECB international and domestic cricket fixtures, Ryder Cup 2010, Wimbledon and the past two FIFA World Cups.
