Yahoo UK appointed by Dailymotion to sell UK ad inventory
YouTube competitor Dailymotion has appointed Yahoo UK to sell UK ads across the video platform following a similar two-year deal in Italy.
Deal: Dailymotion has appointed Yahoo UK to handle ads
The deal covers both web and mobile advertising and is exclusive between the two brands.
Piers North, strategy director at Yahoo UK, said: “This partnership with Dailymotion will offer yet more opportunities for our advertisers to reach audiences from key demographics, including younger users.”
Damien Pigasse, international sales director at Dailymotion, added: “Yahoo has a strong sales force who have the expertise to connect great content with the right brands and we’re delighted to work with them to ensure our content is monetised effectively in the UK.”
Yahoo will handle direct sales of Dailymotion’s UK inventory and act as a local contact for media agencies and advertisers.
The deal follows the news in July that attempts by Yahoo to acquire a 75 per cent stake in the French brand were blocked by the French government, who wanted to prevent the brand being “devoured” by an American company. Yahoo subsequently backed out of proposals for a reduced stake.
