The Scottish Sun has promoted its show business correspondent Gordon Smart, who has overseen the papers ‘Bizarre’ pages for the past six years, to the position of editor.

Smart takes the helm from existing editor Andrew Harries who has filled the role for the past three years.

He has worked at The Scottish Sun for a decade in all and previously worked as a reporter for the Dundee Courier and Evening Telegraph.

Commenting on the promotion Smart said: “I am absolutely thrilled about returning to my native Scotland at such a critical and exciting time for the country. To be back on home turf leading the amazing staff at The Scottish Sun... is the opportunity of a lifetime.”
