Hot on the heels of rolling out a new logo, Yahoo has unveiled a refreshed look to its Mail service.

“Our hope is that the new look makes your daily communication habits a little more inspiring and that it will be easier than ever to manage your email,” said Dave McDowell, senior director, Yahoo Mail and Lee Parry, senior director, Yahoo Mail Mobile, in a blog post announcement.

As people have become accustomed to fast, swiping, actions on smartphones and tablets, Yahoo has redesigned Web Mail to make it more responsive when you hover or select a message.

There is now a quick search feature and a faster way to ‘star’ or delete messages.

Users can also personalise their mail box with a new photo backdrop by visiting the ‘View’ menu or by hitting ‘Esc’ to view photos full screen. When you select a theme on one device, it will reflected on all your devices.

For email conversations involving a lot of people, there is now a way to group related messages together as well quickly respond to the conversation.

Other features which have been made standard include: Disposable Addresses; Filters, allowing users up to 200 filters to automatically sort incoming messages; Mail Forwarding, where you can automatically forward emails to another email account; and Offline Access.

The new look, which has been rolled out across desktop and mobile, comes as Yahoo Mail marks its 16th birthday.
