Appointment: Will McInnes has been named in the new role

Social media analytics firm Brandwatch has appointed Will McInnes in the newly-created role of global chief marketing officer.

McInnes will develop a marketing organisation to support Brandwatch’s global growth strategy and he will be based in New York.

Prior to the appointment, McInnes had been a partner and customer of Brandwatch through his managing director position at social consultancy NixonMcInnes.

Giles Palmer, CEO of Brandwatch, said: “Will is one of the smartest and most inspiring people working in social media today.

“I have been a fan of his for some time and having him join us and take the CMP seat is a big coup for Brandwatch.”

McInnes has acted as a spokesman for the industry with contributions to BBC News and the Financial Times in recent years.
