Breaking Bad finale sets Twitter records with 1.24 million tweets sent during US screening
Breaking Bad’s final episode was released to the masses yesterday, generating 1.24 million tweets and breaking records for viewership and twitter activity in the US, as a result. The show, according to SocialGuide, which measures U.S. conversation, also drew 10.3 million viewers, saw 1.24 million tweets sent, peaking at 22,373 tweets per minute at the beginning of the episode. The #GoodbyeBreakingBad hashtag was used nearly 500,000 times, while actors from the programme also tweeted their gratitude and farewells, with @BryanCranston and @AaronPaul_8 drawing over 50,000 and 27,000 retweets on the night, respectively.
