Cheil UK has announced Jon Buckley as its first head of social, tasking him with formulating Cheil's social strategy and ensuring that it sits at the core of all creative output.
Buckley, who joins from Mesh Marketing where he was digital director, reports to Cheil UK's head of innovation Daniele Fiandaca.
“Social media represents a significant shift in power from brands and businesses to individuals. It plays a key role in all aspects of life from how we communicate with others, to how we express ourselves and how we shop,” explained Fiandaca.
“The appointment of Jon represents Cheil UK’s commitment to having the expertise to develop campaigns and ideas that weave social throughout their DNA – not campaigns with social just bolted on as an afterthought. Jon brings a wealth of experience from working for some of the world’s biggest brands. He will be an integral part of Cheil as we continue bolster our integrated offer.”
Buckley’s appointment follows the promotion of Matt Pye to chief operating officer in August.
