Facebook is currently testing a new ‘professional skills’ tab on its work section, it has been revealed.

Facebook told The Next Web: “We are currently testing a new option where you can add your professional skills to the work and education section of your timeline.”

The move will help ‘group’ people of specific interests: which as well as making the social platform more like LinkedIn, could also be something used in future by Facebook to help marketers target their ads.

It is unknown when the tool will be rolled out for all users.

This testing comes at the same time as it is revealed that Facebook has unveiled a new tool for ‘surfacing’ public conversations, distilling the number of posts mentioning a specific word over a period of time down to a demographic breakdown.
