Businessman Hasan Syed has revealed he spent $1,000 on a campaign to shame British Airways via Twitter’s promoted tweets function after his luggage was lost on an EU business trip.

Tweets: Businessman Syed revealed his final figures

Syed bombarded the brand – and its customers – with tweets about the poor service and attracted international media coverage.

Syed revealed on Wednesday that his campaign had brought 76.8K impressions and 14.6K engagements after a total spend of $1,000.

His “I CAN HAZ MY BAGGAGE?” tweet received 45 retweets and 37 replies, reaching an engagement rate of 18.7 per cent.

BA apologised to Syed on Tuesday and said his baggage would be delivered back to him within a day.

Apparently satisfied with the outcome of his campaign, Syed signed off saying: “I got what I wanted. I win.”
