A Russian ad for Burger King, which has been banned from major TV channels, suggests that ‘the time of poppies is over’, and that it can be replaced by a Whopper.

The ad has now been posted by Russian Burger King on YouTube, in order to let everyone see the banned ad.

A voiceover during the ad states that the poppy ‘was popular once’, but now its time has passed.

However, The Moscow Times did also notes that poppy translated into Russian is ‘mak’ – something synonymous with rival McDonald’s.
