Grant’s whisky has engaged Purple Creative to help design a time capsule, which will be opened in 2113 by future Grant’s family members and employees.

The project, which aims to honour Grant’s past, present and future and celebrate 100 years since Grant’s Stand Fast whisky was first blended, will give Grant’s colleagues in another 100 years an idea of the people, passion, projects and personalities at Grant’s in 2013.

Purple’s idea for the capsule was to capture a ‘Moment in Time’ with an album full of photos from employees around the world. The chosen photos have since been immortalised in the album with images from Sydney to Strathclyde included. In the spirit of being futuristic the photo album has been created using 3D printing, the most modern technique the agency could find.

“Grant’s has such a long family tradition, as well as so many long-standing employees, especially at the distillery in Dufftown, that this project will be a valuable historical artefact,” commented Kate Athanasi, Grant’s brand director.

Along with the album, a bottle of Grant’s Stand Fast (a recreation of the 1913 bottle) and a 2013 bottle of Grant’s Family Reserve will also be preserved in the time capsule created by craftsman Paul Hodgkiss.

Purple Creative founding partner and creative director, Steve Bewick, added: “This is a truly unique project to be part of, and 100 years is probably the longest we’ll have to wait for a client’s reaction. Like the Grant’s brand itself, we’ve combined tradition with modernity – using stories and materials that reflect its rich heritage, as well as the most up-to-date technology to represent Grant’s forward-thinking nature.”
