Google has unveiled the ‘Hello World’ campaign images for Google Maps, coinciding with an update to the service which now allows brands and marketers to show ‘relevant ads’.

Google's latest update to its Maps app on iOS and Android has seen advertisements at the bottom of the screen appear after a user performs a search. The ad includes a title, ad text and a link to get directions, and can be swiped to show more information.

“To show ads on the Google Maps app, advertisers need to add location extensions to their search campaigns or create an ad with AdWords Express. If your campaign is not showing ads on mobile devicesor on Google search partners, you'll also need to change those settings,” explained Google in the announcement.

The update comes as Google unveiled images for its ‘Hello World’ campaign promoting its mapping service.

New York-based graphic designer Matt Delbridge was commissioned to create the series of illustrations for the print activity.

Delbridge used the iconic Google Maps location marker alongside imagery commonly associated with popular destinations.
