Laurence King, the US based publishing house, has revealed the Purple Book, an intricate partnering of classic texts with illustrations from contemporary artists.

Created by New York design agency Pentagram, the Purple Book features five pieces of literary text from the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, James Joyce, Christina Rossetti, and Georges Bataille.

Their classic passages have been accompanied with illustrations from artists like Vania Zouravliov, Jules Julien and Laura Laine

The book was edited by Angus Hyland and Angharad Lewis, and explores themes of sensuality, fantasy and a dream-like states.
