Adidas and Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose launched a pop-up shop in Hackney giving away free shoes to fans during trip to the UK earlier this month.

The sports brand decided to take D Rose to Hackney as it is the home of many aspiring UK basketball players. D Rose took up residence at the specially created pop-up store in the Geffrye Community Centre, Falkirk Street, and took the two hours the store was open for to meet fans and give away hundreds of pairs of D Rose 3.5 shoes, to those who earned them.

In order to get a pair of the limited edition shoes, fans had to get them off shelves which were 10 feet high, the height of a basketball rim, in just 24 seconds, the amount of time it takes to make a play in a real game.

D Rose commented: “I didn’t get to do this when I was growing up. I didn’t get to meet an NBA player; I really appreciate Adidas bringing me here.”

Each person who jumped left the store with the signature shoes in the end, along with a limited edition t-shirt, signed poster and discount voucher for the Adidas Performance store.
