Google claims world’s highest resolution screen with Nexus 7 tablet

Google is upping the ante in the tablet market with the unveiling of its latest weapon in an ongoing arms race with Apple, the Nexus 7.

The tablet device boasts a form factor that is both thinner and lighter than previous iterations as well as hosting a 7 inch display which has a resolution of 323 pixels per inch - far higher than the iPad.

Nevertheless the iPad’s 264 PPI was already said to be higher than most users can perceive.

">alongside the Chromecast Google showcased a number of new features including wireless charging, 4G connectivity.

Google asserts that the tablet can run for up to 10 hours on a single charge and is 80 per cent faster than the previous model with the memory doubled to 2GB.

Weighing in at 299g with Wifi and 310g with 4G the computer also comes equipped with 5MP rear and 1.2MP front cameras in addition to stereo speakers.

Scheduled for release before Christmas for £160 the device significantly undercuts its rivals
