Ogilvy & Mather, a division of WPP, has promoted Michael Dobak, a five-year veteran of Ogilvy & Mather New York, to the newly-created role of CEO, Ogilvy & Mather West.

"The West is an influential region globally – it is the centre of technology, gaming and of course entertainment – I'm excited to be returning to the region and working with our leadership team and creative talent to build new experiences and bring new capability to our clients," he said.

Dobak started his advertising career in Los Angeles at Dailey & Associates before moving to Northern California to lead the Sprint PCS account at the original Hal Riney & Partners in San Francisco.

He served in a senior position at Arnold in Boston before joining Ogilvy & Mather in 2008 where he has spent the past two years as the global managing director on the IBM business.

As CEO Ogilvy & Mather West, he will lead all West Coast operations, which includes Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, OgilvyOne and Ogilvy Public Relations.

"There is no one better qualified to position Ogilvy & Mather distinctively in this market, where new technologies and media are powerfully changing business and consumer experiences," stated John Seifert, CEO Ogilvy & Mather North America. "Michael will be charged with building a gateway to technology, entertainment and gaming companies, located in the West, that are directly involved with this revolutionary transformation in marketing."
