UK payment services body the Payment Council has select the7stars to help promote the benefits of the Current Account Switch Service.

The7stars have now been tasked with handling the Payment Council’s multi-million pound advertising campaign for the new service, which is being introduced in September and will make it easier for consumers, businesses and small charities to switch current account.

Mark Hemingway, spokesman for the Payments Council, commented: “This project, along with the national advertising campaign to raise awareness of the new service, has been a massive project for all the participating banks and building societies and represents an investment of more than £750 million.”

The multi-media activity will promote the free-to-use account-switching service and will include a TV campaign to promote the service. Activity will also include radio, outdoor, social media, direct marketing, PR and corporate communications.

Nick Maddison, account director at the7stars, added: “We’re so proud to be helping the Payments Council promote the new account switching service. The flexibility and integrity of the7stars makes us a perfect partner to help launch the service across the UK later this year.”

The campaign aims to make sure that customers are aware of the new service, but that they also have total confidence in it.
