Royal Mail to mark Andy Murray's Wimbledon win with commemorative stamp set

Royal Mail has announced it is to commemorate Andy Murray’s Wimbledon victory with a series of special stamps, two of Murray with the trophy and another two featuring action shots of the final.

The four special edition stamps will go on sale in August

On sale from 8 August, the set of four stamps will cost £3.76. Two stamps in each set will be priced at the first class rate, with the remaining two pieces at the overseas letter rate of £1.28. This will be the second time Murray will feature on a Royal Mail stamp as a gold medal stamp was issued to mark his win at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“We are thrilled for Andy and are delighted to mark his wonderful achievement by issuing a set of special stamps. His historic win at Wimbledon has made the nation proud, and we can now celebrate his success with this new stamp issue.

"Andy's stamp joins just a handful of special stamps we have issued to mark unique moments in British sporting history, including the next day gold medal stamps for London 2012, England's Ashes and football and rugby World Cup wins,” explained Royal Mail managing director, stamps and collectibles, Andrew Hammond.
