To promote its All-in-1 Travel package which allows travellers to call, text and use mobile data for €2 per day Vodafone Netherlands has launched #HashtagHolidays, a social travel agency where travellers can pick and choose their ideal holiday based on travel related hashtags from all major European cities.

As posting on social media is the second most popular use of mobile data, behind emailing, Vodafone was inspired to classify popular holiday destinations according to current trends on social media.

A built-in scanning algorithm analyses the geographic location of hastags concerning partying, eating out or shopping among others for the #HashtagHolidays site.

Based on the results the site can recommend the cities where hashtags of interest are being shared the most to holiday makers.

Each week participants will be able to win their own #HashtagHoliday by being the first to check in on the site once check in opens, with the competition element of the campaign running until 1 August.
