Allrecipes.com, a recipe’s sharing site attracting one billion visits annually, is to launch a print magazine as part of its brand extension.

Meredith Corporation, the site owners, said that Allrecipes will be published six times per year with an initial rate base of 500,000. The December 2013 premiere issue will debut in mid-November, ahead of the festive period.

In addition to the print offering, Meredith has also created a regular Allrecipes branded television segment that will air from September as part of Meredith's nationally syndicated television program The Better Show.

“Allrecipes is a unique and powerful media brand," said Meredith National Media group president Tom Harty. "Our testing reaffirmed its tremendous consumer appeal, and we think advertisers will view Allrecipes magazine as a new and exciting way to reach a large base of very motivated consumers."

Advertising sales for Allrecipes magazine will be led by Christine Guilfoyle, who is being promoted to VP/group publisher.

Cheryl Brown has been named editor-in-chief of Allrecipes magazine, reporting to Linda Fears, head of Meredith's Food Content Center of Excellence.
