Guardian appoints Tim Hunt as marketing director

Guardian News & Media has today announced the appointment of Tim Hunt as marketing director, with immediate effect.

Hunt, who has previously held the roles of director of marketing and product for YouView and director of marketing and communications at Freeview, said: “It is a fantastically exciting time for Guardian News & Media, as it continues its rapid transformation into a truly global digital media brand.

“The organisation has grown from a top ten UK newspaper, to the third largest English-language newspaper website in the world and the Guardian brand is a wonderful asset which inspires admiration and respect wherever it goes. I am really looking forward to working with the team to build even more innovative, open and creative marketing ideas which will further drive audience participation and engagement."

Hunt will report to chief commercial officer, David Pemsel.

Pemsel said: “We are delighted to confirm Tim as Marketing Director at Guardian News & Media. He has brilliant media industry experience, and brings a wealth of digital and technology marketing expertise that will really help us continue to drive forward our ambitious global digital growth plans.”

In his new role, Hunt will be responsible for the overall marketing strategy and execution at Guardian News & Media, as well as overseeing the brand, user engagement, events and audience teams.
