Colgate has issued an apology to those who turned up at Waterloo Station on Tuesday morning only for its Big Electric Brush Swap to be forced to close due to running out of electric toothbrushes to swap and has promised to increase the promotion.

The brand has explained that Network Rail closed the promotional stand due to risk of overcrowding, when people queued to swap their old electric toothbrushes from 5am, only to find that the 150 Colgate ProClinical A1500 models available to swap for were all handed out before 7am.

However, the brand has revealed that the promotion will continue, but not at Waterloo or Victoria Station and that it intends to hand out 7,000 electric toothbrushes - 1,000 more than originally planned, only now those who wish to apply will be able to do so online.

Registration to swap for a new electric toothbrush will be available on ColgateProClinical.co.uk until 20 July.

Following the disaster, Philip’s took the opportunity to promote its rival electric toothbrush with a press ad and digital ad in Waterloo Station alongside the tagline ‘The best things in life aren’t free’.
