Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has recruited ex-Eastender Pam St Clement and former Blue Peter presenter Tim Vincent for its Deaf for a Day campaign.

Using celebrities, the Deaf for a Day campaign aims to show what it's like to lose your hearing in order to raise awareness of the emotional and social issues surrounding hearing loss.

"We are overwhelmed with support from the public for our Deaf for the Day campaign…The campaign has been a huge success in generating greater deaf awareness, and all funds raised will help us to continue to create many more life changing partnerships between deaf people and hearing dogs," commented Charlotte Peters, media and campaigns manager at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Working with the recently appointed Palmer Hargreaves both St Clement and Vincent were fitted with a special mould in their ears to experience being deaf and better understand the challenges faced by deaf people. Both were then partnered with a hearing to to witness the benefits that one of the charity's hearing dogs can bring.

Managing Director of Palmer Hargreaves, Nikki Watts, added: "We are delighted to have played a part in this extremely important campaign. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People delivers real, life-changing assistance and it’s great that donors to the charity can see the tangible benefit that their donations have helped to deliver."
