Samsung dominance drives 70% market share for Android across Europe, according to report

Dominance: Samsung's mobile market growth continues
The data represents a year-on-year increase across Europe of almost 10 percentage point for Android, up from 61.3 per cent last year, and substiantially higher than the 17.8 per cent share iOS and 6.8 per cent share for Windows.
In the UK, Android dominates the market with a share of 56.6 per cent, confortably ahead of iOS at 29.9 per cent, Windows at 7.8 per cent and Blackberry at 5.3 per cent. Blackberry has struggled to compete with Samsung and Apple and recently reported significant losses.
While Samsung is enjoying strong growth in the smartphone market, its loyalty rate in Britain is still notably lower than Apple at 59 per cent compared to 79 per cent, according to the report.
The report identified a strengthening performance from Sony, which is now the country's fourth largest handset manufacturer, and credited the Xperia Z as a driver and competitor to Samsung.
